We’re getting together Saturday to slay him once and for all.  We need your help.

The work will focus mostly on the opposite side of the parking lot, where the Monster still has reaching tendrils.  We will clear brush, pull up vines, and finally expose parts of the parking lot that has not seen light of day for some years.

We will also clear in the upper parking lot.

So bring your clippers, chain saws, axes, hoes, backhoes, flamethrowers, but mostly just yourselves, and help us clear this menace.

Official start is 10am, but come anytime, because, let’s face it, the battle against the Weed Forces knows no time!

Just kidding about the “falling from the sky” thing.  We borrowed 700 feet of firehose from a local fire station and filled it from a hydrant.  Normally we fill the pool using hoses from the normal water supply.  This takes between 9 and 12 DAYS.

This time, because we replaced the white coating on the inside of the pool, and because that needs to cure under water, we had to do it quickly. Just over 15 hours to be exact.

Yesterday morning the pool looked like this:

That was before 25 guys with a plaster hose and trowels went to work.

So the pool is full and almost ready for opening next week!

If you live near the pool and the water in your  morning shower was a little dribbly, we apologize.

Tomorrow is a big day and we REALLY REALLY need your help.  It’s cleanup day and we have lots of work to do to get the pool ready for the summer.

The biggest job is to tackle something that has been bothering everyone for years:  the tangle of brush and weeds that seems to have slowly been taking over the parking lot.

So bring some work gloves, clippers, trimmers, chain saws, back hoes, nail scissors, and come pitch in for old Glenwood.  (And if you can’t bring any of those things, just yourself will do).

We’d love to have you, and your strapping kids, nephews, and great-uncles-twice-removed.

It’s fun too! Let’s kill the Green Monster!  Saturday from 10-until.

We’ve got a lot of work to do this year, and we need EVERYONE’s help!

Mark your calendars!

Come join the fun and help us:

• Clear bushes, brush, and debris from the edges of the parking lot.
• Clean and organize the bathhouses.
• Get the snack bar, storage area, and managers office ready.
• Do some gardening.
• Find and fix broken things.
• Clean and prepare unbroken things.
• Power wash the chairs and tables.
• Install new umbrellas
• And more.

There’s something for everyone. Bring the family (or at least those over 10) and pitch in.

The pool will appreciate your attention!

Well she needs you this Saturday from 10am until.

We need volunteers to:

• help erect a couple of permanent, all weather ping pong tables.  Do you think 236 ping pong balls will last us all of next summer?
• help clean the pool filters.  This will be heavy and dirty work, and I’m sure any volunteers will be offered “refreshments” commensurate with their efforts.
• help paint the ceilings in the men’s and women’s changing rooms, AND help pick some very sleek and silky colors with which to paint the women’s room walls.

So come on down and help if you can, you’ll be most welcome.

In the meantime we have to put it to bed for the winter.

Come join the fun this Saturday September 10th from 11am to 4pm. There will be many jobs:

• Cleaning the deck and lawn
• Putting away the benches, tables and umbrellas
• Making the changing rooms, er, livable
• And much more….

Your help will be much appreciated.

And someone might even bring coffee and donuts! Or beer and chips for after. (Or so I’m told.)

The theme will be, well I’m not sure it’s a theme really:  Bring a starter dish whose name starts with the first initial of your first name, and a main dish whose name starts with the first initial of your last name.  Is that clear?

Ok, here’s an example, take our fearless leader Brad Rippetoe.  I hear he’s bringing a starter of Biltong and for a main course the Hungarian delicacy of Rooster Testicle Stew.  Get it? B and R?
